ONE

Charlie has had a BIG WEEK! He moved up to the big class at church. He turned ONE. He had a birthday party. He had his last bottle. He got his 1 year shots. And he cut another tooth! ALL during his birthday week!

Time goes and goes... I cannot believe it has already been a year!

I pray that Charlie grows in wisdom and stature more everyday...

"Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter,

Grandmama

Chris' grandmother, Grandmama, went home to be with Jesus this month. There are not enough words that could honor her. She was a wonderful great-grandmother to Hunter and Charlie. She was a special grandmother to me. She was as close of a "mom/grandmother" you can have to Chris. I am thankful for the character that Grandmama helped build into Chris. She always used to tell Chris "a man is only as good as his word." She was always attentive to the minor details of Chris' life and interests and always encouraging him in whatever he pursued. She always loved what Chris loved, which happens to include me and my children. Grandmama hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas and most holidays at her house...always making time together warm and special. She had a servants heart that compares to none. Grandmama had a way about her always making people feel welcomed and cherished. She was always serving whether it was cooking or picking up after people or planning time with family and friends--Grandmama built community with everyone. Grandmama laughed a lot and loved always.

Grandmama sayings come up often and memories linger everywhere...

After visiting family for an extended time, Chris and I were in our car with the boys driving back to our home in Cincinnati. Hunter randomly said, "Daddy, I love you all-the-time."

Suggestion: do not use your kitchen spatula as a spanking item. It was way too early this morning to be cooking scrambled eggs with nothing to stir them.

"Hunter, do you know where mommy's spatula is?"

"The red one?" "Why Mommy?"

"I need it to cook your eggs. Where is it?"

"You cook my eggs Mommy?"

"Yes, did you hide it?"

"No. I put it in my bed."

Hunter stands in the hallway as I look at the end of his bed...2 spatulas and a wooden spoon. Hmmmmm
